【摘要】:Duplexgrainsizemayoccurinsomemetalsandalloysasaresultoftheirthermomechanicalprocessinghistory.Forcomparisonofmechanicalpropertieswithmetallurgicalfeatures,orforspecificationpurposes,itmaybeimportanttobeabletocharacterizegrainsizeinsuchmaterials.Assigninganaveragegrainsizevaluetoaduplexgrainsizespecimendoesnotadequatelycharacterizetheappearanceofthatspecimen,andmayevenmisrepresentitsappearance.Forexample,averagingtwodistinctlydifferentgrainsizesmayresultinreportingasizethatdoesnotactuallyexistanywhereinthespecimen.Thesetestmethodsmaybeappliedtospecimensorproductscontainingrandomlyintermingledgrainsoftwoormoresignificantlydifferentsizes(henceforthreferredtoasrandomduplexgrainsize).Examplesofrandomduplexgrainsizesinclude:isolatedcoarsegrainsinamatrixofmuchfinergrains,extremelywidedistributionsofgrainsizes,andbimodaldistributionsofgrainsize.Thesetestmethodsmayalsobeappliedtospecimensorproductscontaininggrainsoftwoormoresignificantlydifferentsizes,butdistributedintopologicallyvaryingpatterns(henceforthreferredtoastopologicalduplexgrainsizes).Examplesoftopologicalduplexgrainsizesinclude:systematicvariationofgrainsizeacrossthesectionofaproduct,necklacestructures,bandedstructures,andgerminativegraingrowthinselectedareasofcriticalstrain.Thesetestmethodsmaybeappliedtospecimensorproductsregardlessoftheirstateofrecrystallization.Becausethesetestmethodsdescribedeviationsfromasingle,log-normaldistributionofgrainsizes,andcharacterizepatternsofvariationingrainsize,thetotalspecimencross-sectionmustbeevaluated.Thesetestmethodsarelimitedtoduplexgrainsizesasidentifiablewithinasinglepolishedandetchedmetallurgicalspecimen.Ifduplexgrainsizeissuspectedinaproducttoolargetobepolishedandetchedasasinglespecimen,macroetchingshouldbeconsideredasafirststepinevaluation.Theentiremacroetchedcross-sectionshouldbeusedasabasisforestimatingareafractionsoccupiedbydistinctgrainsizes,ifpossible.Ifmicroscopicexaminationissubsequentlynecessary,individualspecimensmustbetakentoallowestimationofareafractionsfortheentireproductcross-section,andtoallowdeterminationofgrainsizesrepresentingtheentirecross-sectionaswell.Thesetestmethodsareintendedtobeappliedtoduplexgrainsizes.Duplexgrainstructures(forexample,multiphasealloys)arenotnecessarilyduplexingrainsize,andassucharenotthesubjectofthesemethods.However,thetestmethodsdescribedhereforareafractionestimationmaybeofuseindescribingduplexgrainstructures.1.1Thesetestmethodsprovidesimpleguidelinesfordecidingwhetheraduplexgrainsizeexists.Thetestmethodsseparateduplexgrainsizesintooneoftwodistinctclasses,thenintospecifictypeswithinthoseclasses,andprovidesystemsforgrainsizecharacterizationofeachtype.1.2Units8212;ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.3Thisstandardmayinvolvehazardousmaterials,operations,andequipment.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcernsassociatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoconsultappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortoitsuse.
