【摘要】:Materialsthataretobeincontactwiththeskinshouldnotcauseirritationtotheskin.Sinceitisprobablythesubstancesleachedfromamaterialthatcausetheirritation,thispracticeprovidesfordirectmaterial-skincontacttestingorforskinexposuretotheliquidextractofthetestmaterial.Therationaleforthisrabbittestisthatitisacomparativelyquickandinexpensivemethodwhich,throughuseovertheyears,hasbecomeagenerallyacceptedmethod.1.1Thispracticecoversaprocedurebywhichtheirritancyofabiomaterialmaybeassessedthroughcontactwithabradedandintactskinofrabbits.1.2Theresultsofthispracticedependupontheeffectivenesswithwhichcontactbetweentheskinandthetestmaterialisestablishedandmaintained.Becauseoftheoperatortechniqueincludedinperformingthistest,itisimportantthatthetestbeperformedbypersonnelwithappropriatetraining.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
